Copyright for Teachers: How it Works
Thursday February 20, 2025 2:20pm - 3:20pm MST
This interactive session, led by a Librarian from Red Deer Polytechnic, offers a practical guide to navigating copyright in the K-12 classroom. Using Copyright Matters!—an essential, freely available resource for Canadian educators—as its foundation and enriched with real-world classroom scenarios, the session will explore copyright basics, fair dealing guidelines, and best practices for using both digital and physical resources. Teachers will leave with increased confidence and knowledge to make copyright-compliant decisions in their classrooms.

Speed Chatting!
Friday February 21, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am MST
The default tendency of group (or class) is to socialize with familiar people, but what about those who are new or who don’t know anyone? Or, what if it's the first day of class and no one really knows anyone? How can conversations (and maybe friendships) start? Icebreakers abound, but Speed Chatting is a framework for getting any group of people to talk and learn about each other in a low-stress, structured way. Try it yourself, and take away the details to organize your own Speed Chatting.
