About me
Amanda's spark for science ignited at an early age exploring nature with her family and grew into a flame for space exploration as she followed Canada's journey skyward. She teaches Junior High STEM classes in both English and French in Beaumont, Alberta. Alongside her colleague Julie Arsenault, Amanda is a proud recipient of the 2022 Prime Minister's Award Teaching Excellence in STEM - Certificate of Achievement, the 2018 ATA Science Council Outstanding Science Teacher Award and the 2021 Learning For Sustainable Future's Earth Steward Teaching Award. Amanda is also a member of the Board of Directors for Inside Education, a Let's Talk Science teacher leader, an active public speaker/STEM consultant, and passionate about collaboration. Above all else Amanda loves to “be the spark” for others in order to inspire authentic learning opportunities for students to apply to real-world problems, fostering a generation of young people armed to build a better future.
