About me
Claire Masikewich is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with a passion for advocacy that transcends the boundaries of her corporate career. She has a proven track record of successfully developing and implementing innovative marketing strategies that have driven growth and brand recognition. However, in May of 2023, Claire’s career was put on hold when her five-year-old daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of pediatric cancer. This heart-wrenching experience ignited a fire within Claire to channel her marketing expertise into a powerful force for change, creating awareness and advocating for more research for pediatric cancer - an area that’s severely underfunded. But Claire’s journey is defined not only by her professional achievements but by her triumph over personal challenges with anxiety and depression. In the past, Claire battled with her mental health, which, at times, seemed insurmountable. But with her daughter’s diagnosis, rather than leaning into past insecurities, she harnessed her inner strength and turned her pain into purpose advocating for pediatric cancer, all while her daughter was going through treatment. At the end of August 2024, just before Childhood Cancer Awareness month, the Strong Like Sloane Foundation received its official charitable organization status in the province of Alberta.
