About me
Douglas Parsons is the Training and Resource Manager for Autism Edmonton. He lends his expertise in providing learning opportunities for the Autistic community (and those wanting to learn about Autism) around the world. Under his management umbrella is the Housing portfolio where growth is being had in creating neurodiverse living spaces in Alberta. In addition, he provides guidance and oversight to the E3 team who works with Autistic individuals achieve gainful employment. We live by the quote, "If you have met one person with autism ... you have met only one person with autism".Douglas originally started out as a Junior High and High School English teacher, but he left to live on the mainland of China. During this time, he began to love teaching, but to adult learners instead of teenagers. He brought this newfound love back to Canada and has worked at various post secondary institutions helping newcomers to Canada with language, immigration, and employment. Douglas is now enjoying working in the Autistic world and the fascinating learning to be had in it.
